The black marble case in the form of a pillar base has engine turned gilded brass decoration, a fine bezel and feet.
There is a biscuit porcelain figure of Minerva (goddess of handicrafts) on top.
The 4 ¼” porcelain dial has Arabic numerals and finely cut gilded hands. The beautifully made 4- pillar movement has verge escapement and strikes the hours on a bell via a countwheel and the ¼’s on 2 bells.
This very fine Swiss clock is not signed. The makers of this and similar clocks were made for high-end European retailers, who quite often would put their own names on.
