Hook & Spike By Walter Archer, Stow – On The Wold C.1695

Ref No 686

A very attractive early hook & spike clock by Walter Archer, Stow On The Wold C.1695

The iron and brass bird cage movement has an anchor escapement, it retains its original wheel and metalwork including its hooks & spikes. The hours are struck via a countwheel on a large bell.

The 9” dial has brass corner spandrels, a chapter ring with early ½ hour markers and a fine single hand. The dial centre is most beautifully engraved with flowers and foliage and inside and outside borders.

A fine rare clock.
