The case of typical balloon shape with arched base, rear door sound fret and a brass bezel, top finial and four finely cast feet. There is boxwood lining to the case front.
The 8-day twin fusee movement has circular plates, 5 turned pillars, anchor escapement and a wood rod pendulum with a cylindrical bob. The hours are struck on a bell. The backplate has a finely engraved border, holding straps and is fully signed in a cartouche. An 8” white dial has its original brass hands and is fully signed.
James Haughton was working in London. He was a member of the clockmakers company from 1770 – 84, a maker of fine table clocks.
