The bell-topped case of good colour has a brass-carrying handle, 4 pineapple finials, fish scale frets and bracket feet.
The 8-day, 5-pillar movement has its original anchor escapement and strikes the hours on a bell. There is a pull repeat facility. An impressive backplate engraved with foliage and a central standing bird has a formal patterned border.
The attractive 7 ½” dial has corner and arch spandrels, an arch silvered strike-silent dial. A full-silvered chapter ring with Arabic numerals and a calendar ring. Fully signed “ Josh Sarjent, Jermyn St, St James” (London).
Joseph Sarjent was a watchmaker to the prince of Wales worked in Jermyn St from 1794 – 1820.
