A very fine table / mantel clock by Le Roy of Paris C1870.
The gilded brass case is particularly attractive with engraving to the sides, top and front. It sits on its original plinth, which has ebony and gold gilding.
The movement goes for 8 days and strikes the hours and ½ hours. The enameled dial is 3” diameter and has original hands.
Height: 15 ½” (39cms) including plinth and finial.
The Le Roy family of clockmakers were working in Paris from the seventh century and were always renowned for their quality. This example would date from around 1870.
