A small rosewood library mantel timepiece by Payne 163 New Bond St, London C1835

The fine rosewood case has a stepped top, side windows and sits on bun feet. The four turned pillar fusee movement has arched and stepped plates, anchor escapement and a long steel rod pendulum with above bob regulation and holdfast. The 3 ½” arched dial is most beautifully engraved with flowers and foliage. It has an engine turned center and original hands.

Wm Payne a well-known maker of high quality precision clocks was working at 163 Bond Street, London from 1830 – 1850.
