The silver outercase has a paper insert of The Prince Of Wales with the date 1738. The watch case is of silver with an enamelled dial, original hands, brass movement plates with Egyptian pillars and verge escapement. The backplate is most beautifully adorned with engraved silver decoration, signature band, regulation dial and all screws and springs are blued.

Thomas Ogden (see history on item 564) was famous for making very fine clocks, although listed as making watches; this is the only one we have ever seen and is indeed a work of art.
